Trump tries to salvage ceasefire after rebuking Israel and Iran over violations
US president says both sides have violated ceasefire meant to bring an end to what he has branded the ‘12 Day War’

A frustrated US President Donald Trump insisted on Tuesday that the ceasefire between Iran and Israel remains “in effect”, even as he rebuked both nations for violating it.
His stern message, including a direct plea to Israel to “not drop those bombs” on Iran, came hours after an early Tuesday deadline meant to halt hostilities.
“ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
This public warning followed his earlier castigation of Iran, but particularly close US ally Israel, for launching attacks after the ceasefire, which he had originally announced late Monday.
The ceasefire announcement itself marked a significant shift, coming just hours after the Middle East crisis appeared to widen. Earlier on Monday, Iran had directly retaliated against the US for strikes on its nuclear sites by firing missiles at an American military base in Qatar.
Since June 13, Israel and Iran have exchanged devastating and deadly strikes. Israel launched its aerial campaign asserting that Tehran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon, claims Iran vehemently denies, maintaining its nuclear programme is solely for peaceful purposes.
