A man in eastern China has been detained for brutally abusing and killing a cat in public.
The actions of the man, surnamed Cai, near a park in a residential community in Quzhou, Zhejiang province on March 1, was filmed in a video that has gone viral on mainland social media.
The clip’s contents have triggered outrage among internet users, according to a report by the news outlet The Paper.
Wearing a pair of big gloves, Cai is seen stamping repeatedly on the white feline.
The cat was blurred in the video clip, but according to some internet users who saw the original footage, the cat vomited blood and lay limp on the ground.
Cai later snapped the cat’s legs and arms and gouged out its eyes with a surgical knife.
