China’s first Corgi police dog makes public debut, hailed for under-car bomb detection skills, attitude and fitness
- 6-month-old male Corgi breaks police dog mould, displays good skills
- Diminutive dog shows obedience, hunting ability, good appetite, energy
When it comes to canine police work, a cute and cuddly short-legged Corgi dog is not the first breed that springs to mind.
But a diminutive doggy of that particular breed has just made an impressive crime-fighting debut in China.
The six-month-old male called Fuzai has appeared at a police camp open day event in Weifang, Shandong province in the east of the country.
For those who questioned whether such a cute-looking dog could effectively overcome obstacles and intimidate suspects, a detailed online profile offered the answers.
Directly after weaning, Fuzai met his handler and quickly showed he was obedient, had hunting ability, a good appetite, energy, and a high degree of possessiveness. All traits that fit the criteria for police dog selection, according to Weifang Public Security Bureau.
