Hong Kong film producer ignites debate by selling social skills courses, making US$280,000
Wife of well-known entertainment tycoon says ‘exclusive’ classes will help people manage their ‘careers, family, wealth, relations’

Online courses designed to improve people’s social skills offered by Hong Kong film producer Tiffany Chen have generated total sales of more than two million yuan (US$280,000) in the past week.
Chen, 68, is the wife of entertainment tycoon Charles Heung Wah-keung and is better known on the mainland of China as Madam Heung, the mother of actor Jacky Heung, who is also an online celebrity.
At the end of August, Chen launched courses titled Madam Heung Upgrading Bestie Circle on major social media platforms. The cost per course is 399 yuan (US$55), Dahe News reported.

She claims they will help people “stabilise their inner core and get rid of internal friction.”
The courses also claim they will help people “manage their family, career, wealth and relations”, according to advertisements.
“Hello, I am Madam Heung Chen Lan, a professional woman who is still working hard,” Chen says in the advertisement.
The ad boasts that Chen helped her husband make important decisions and maintain good order in both the business and in her family. She added that she also helped keep the couple’s 45-year-long marriage happy.
