Indian woman discovers fiance elopes with mum days before nuptials, taking savings, jewellery
Father of bride remembers man only communicated with his wife, sometimes spending 22 hours a day with her

An Indian man eloped with his future mother-in-law just 10 days before his wedding, taking with him the family’s cash and jewellery, valued at a total of 85,000 Indian rupees (US$990).
The man’s fiancée, Shivani, was devastated to discover that the person she was set to marry on April 16 had vanished alongside her mother from their home in a village in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, according to the Indian media outlet NDTV.
She noted that they had already sent out wedding invitations to their relatives.
Shivani also accused them of stealing 35,000 Indian rupees in cash and jewellery worth 50,000 Indian rupees that the family had kept at home.
Shivani’s father mentioned that he observed how Rahul, the man in question, only communicated with his wife rather than his fiancée.
“He would spend nearly 20 to 22 hours a day talking to my wife,” he stated.
