A Japanese cat miraculously survived for a month in the scorching summer heat after being abandoned by its owner in her flat.

The feline’s survival instincts have earned it the name Miracle.

A Japanese animal protection non-profit organisation, Animal Rescue Tanpopo, found Miracle in an empty flat in Osaka last August.

The flat’s floor was covered with empty alcohol cans, rubbish and leftover food.

Miracle survived by drinking water from the toilet and eating leftovers, Japanese news outlet Kansai Television reported.

The person in charge of the animal rescue group, Chiaki Honda, said she thought the cat was dead when she found it beside the toilet.
