Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has extended the suspension of passenger flights to Dubai and Riyadh until the end of November, keeping its Middle Eastern routes grounded for a total of nine months.
The airline attributed the extension to “the latest developments in the Middle East”, confirming that services to both cities were now cancelled up to and including November 30.
“Affected travellers will be offered the flexibility to rebook, reroute or refund their tickets,” it said.
Cathay added that it would continue to review the timing for resuming freighter services to Dubai and Riyadh, while closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The announcement comes amid a fresh exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran this week, threatening to reignite a conflict that began in February and had slipped into a diplomatic stalemate.
Tensions have mounted further as the US steps up pressure through a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Cathay first cancelled flights to Dubai and Riyadh on February 28. On July 2, it announced plans to progressively resume passenger and freighter services to the Middle East from September 1, putting tickets back on sale.
But on July 17, the airline postponed the planned resumption until late October, again citing developments in the region.
It also dropped its previous plan to resume freighter services to Riyadh from August 1, without providing a new timeline.
Meanwhile, Emirates continues to operate flights from Hong Kong to Dubai, while Qatar Airways maintains its route to Doha, after both carriers gradually resumed services in March.
