Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways ranked ninth for on-time performance among Asia-Pacific airlines in April, while its regional rival Singapore Airlines dropped out of the top 10 list, a flight intelligence service provider said on Thursday.

Cathay Pacific earned its ninth place by achieving an on-time arrival rate of 78.13 per cent, according to Cirium’s On-Time Performance Monthly Report, which provides insights into airline and airport punctuality.

Philippine Airlines topped the list with an 86.07 per cent on-time arrival rate, followed by Virgin Australia and All Nippon Airways with a rate of 85.44 per cent and 81.85 per cent, respectively. IndiGo, the lowest-ranked carrier in the top 10, managed 77.08 per cent.

Cathay was the only Hong Kong airline that made it into the top 10.

Cathay’s monthly ranking among regional airlines was the same as that for last year in Cirium’s annual review, while Singapore Airlines, which ranked third last year, dropped out of the top 10 list for April.

The report measures how well airlines and airports adhere to flight schedules. An airline’s punctuality is based on the percentage of its flights that arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time, while airports are measured based on departure times.
