A Hong Kong motorcyclist has died and his younger brother has been injured after their bike slammed into a roadside railing in the New Territories.

The man, 33, was travelling along Tai Tong Shan Road in Yuen Long, with his 25-year-old brother riding pillion, when he crashed at around 12.27am on Thursday.

“Initial investigations showed the rider lost control of his motorcycle while trying to overtake a car in front,” a source familiar with the case said.

The insider added that the two brothers fell off the Kawasaki motorcycle when it crashed into railing.

According to police, the motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries and lost consciousness. He was taken to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long, where he was pronounced dead at around 1.09am.

His younger brother sustained arm and leg injuries and he was transported to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
