Hong Kong MTR train service between Sunny Bay and Disneyland Resort stations resumes after power outage causes suspension
- MTR Corporation announces suspension on Disneyland Resort line at about 8.30am
- Service resumes at about 7.50pm, but commuters warned to expect to wait an extra three minutes per train
A suspension of MTR train service between Sunny Bay and Disneyland Resort stations in Hong Kong lasted until Tuesday night as staff raced to fix a power outage caused by a technical fault with overhead line equipment.
The MTR Corporation announced the suspension on the Disneyland Resort line at about 8.30am on Tuesday.
“Based on past experience, we expect it will take more than two hours to handle this incident,” the rail giant had said initially. “MTR staff are carrying out repair work. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
A free MTR shuttle bus service was arranged for commuters between both stations, with rides every 10 minutes to 12 minutes.
A spokesman later said more time was needed for repair work and to replace the equipment. “The service disruption might take longer than expected.”
At about 7.50pm, the MTR Corp said train services had resumed but commuters should expect to wait an extra three minutes per train.
