Hong Kong’s rainy weather is expected to ease over the next few days with sunny intervals starting to emerge on Wednesday.

The Observatory said on Tuesday that conditions would improve gradually over Guangdong province in the next couple of days with an anticyclone aloft strengthening.

But it added that there would still be a few showers over the area.

“The anticyclone aloft is expected to cover southern China persistently during the weekend to early next week, bringing generally fine and very hot weather to the region,” the weather forecaster said.

Heavy rain hit the city earlier on Tuesday, prompting the Observatory to issue an amber rainstorm warning at 7.30am. The alert means heavy rain exceeding 30 millimetres had fallen or was expected to fall across the city.
