Hong Kong consumer watchdog chief steps down, says ready to start ‘new chapter’
Gilly Wong says she hopes to take a short break and ‘embrace a more measured pace of living’ while exploring ‘new horizons’

Gilly Wong Fung-han, chief executive of Hong Kong’s consumer watchdog, has stepped down from her position, saying she decided to take a “well-deserved” break to pursue hobbies after serving in the role for more than a decade.
“Open recruitment for the next [chief executive] has commenced and the selection results will be announced in due course,” a spokesman said.
Wong said that it had been her “absolute honour” to lead the council in its “tireless mission to safeguard the rights of consumers”.
“I intend to take a short break, embrace a more measured pace of living that will allow me the opportunity to explore new horizons and add vibrant new colours to my life, while also taking the time to rejuvenate myself both physically and spiritually.
“It is the right timing … I can unload my duty and open a new chapter of my life.”
