Hong Kong police have been asked to investigate a “suspicious” fire at a public housing flat where a separate blaze broke out the day before.

The latest blaze at the flat at Wah Fu Estate’s Wah Shun House in Southern district was reported to the Fire Services Department at 4.59am on Monday.

The fire was extinguished at 5.31am, with no injuries reported.

“After a preliminary investigation, we found that the fire erupted inside the flat near the main door,” a department spokesman said.

“Police also found suspicious people in the building after checking CCTV, who are suspected of being behind the fire.”

The earlier fire broke out at the flat on Sunday, but the department stressed that the two blazes were unrelated.
