Alex Lee Chun-ting, Miramar Travel’s general manager, also confirmed on Saturday that the victim had been sitting down at the time.

The tour guide was killed on Friday when the coach crashed in bad weather on its ways to the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The 16 members of the tour group were unharmed.

Lee said his agency was waiting for a family member of the victim to be issued travel document to be able to head to Shanghai and for further instructions from mainland Chinese authorities before further arrangements could be made about insurance and collecting the body.

He told the Post he was informed on Friday night that a mainland driver was being held to assist with the investigation into the accident.

Asked whether the company had rules on how their guides should conduct their work while on a coach, Lee said they were asked to address their groups while sitting down. But staff members could stand up when it was safe to do so, he added.
