Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has launched an investigation into a staff member after a video circulating online showed her throwing suitcases from a flight of stairs and violating the airline’s baggage handling procedures.

The airline apologised on Tuesday to passengers for the inconvenience caused.

The video circulating online showed a female worker wearing a reflective Cathay Pacific vest working on a staircase running from the plane to the tarmac, repeatedly throwing suitcases from a higher position.

Cathay said it was aware of the video and confirmed an employee from its ground-handling service provider was involved in the incident.

She was removed from her current position, pending the results of the investigation, it said.

Cathay said it had urged the ground-handling service provider to strengthen overall staff training and supervision to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

The video does not show the location or date.
