Eddy Li, renowned Hong Kong watchmaking tycoon, dies aged 69

Hong Kong watchmaking tycoon Eddy Li Sau-hung died at the age of 69 after suffering a stroke, his company announced on Tuesday.
The Campell Group said that its chairman died on Monday in the presence of his family members and close friends.
“Three weeks ago, Dr Li fell ill from a stroke and was hospitalised for treatment,” the leading watchmaking company said. “[On Monday], in the presence of his family members and close friends, he passed away peacefully.”
Li, also a former president of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association, founded Campell Group in 1989. He later expanded the watch business to various sectors across real estate, finance and antiques.
He was awarded Hong Kong’s top honour, the Gold Bauhinia Star, in 2017 and was appointed as a justice of the peace in 2012.

He had served on a number of public bodies, including the Hong Kong Trade Advisory Committee from 1995 to 2000, and was a former member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
