A Hong Kong medical student has pleaded guilty to covertly filming two male schoolmates while they showered at their university dormitory last year.

Chung Chun-yu, 23, on Thursday admitted to two counts of voyeurism for his actions at the University of Hong Kong’s Madam S H Ho Residence for Medical Students on southern Hong Kong Island.

The dormitory on Sassoon Road, which is within a 10-minute walk from Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam, accommodates mostly students in the bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery programme who are either in their final year or taking a speciality clerkship, according to its website.

Eastern Court heard that the defendant had used an iPhone 15 Pro to film his schoolmates through a hole in a laundry basket on September 22, 2024.

One of the victims, 23, discovered the device and found Chung hiding in a cubicle shortly before midnight.

A subsequent inspection of Chung’s phone revealed a 39-minute video of the 23-year-old victim and another 29-year-old student showering in the dormitory.
