Hong Kong court allows HSBC to repossess Abby Choi’s former father-in-law’s flat
Subsidised flat in Kwai Chung’s Sheung Man Court to be handed to bank after Kwong Kau defaulted on HK$2 million mortgage loan

A Hong Kong court has allowed HSBC to take possession of a subsidised flat belonging to slain socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung’s former father-in-law after he failed to repay a mortgage loan of HK$2 million (US$256,964).
Kwong, a retired police sergeant, is currently detained at the maximum-security Stanley Prison pending trial for Choi’s murder.
Parts of the model’s dismembered remains were discovered in a three-storey village house in Tai Po on February 24, 2023. She was 28.
Kwong’s two sons, Anthony Kwong Kong-kit, 34, and Alex Kwong Kong-chi, 30, are also in jail awaiting their trials.
The court heard that Kwong mortgaged his 291 sq ft subsidised flat in July 2020 to secure a HK$2.07 million mortgage loan from HSBC, but failed to repay the outstanding balance despite making some partial payments.
