1 dead, 3 injured after 2-vehicle crash in Hong Kong’s New Territories

A 41-year-old man has died and three others have been injured after a head-on car crash in Hong Kong’s New Territories.

The force said that a taxi and a private car collided on Fan Kam Road near Chuk Hang in Pat Heung at around 2am on Friday.

The taxi driver, 63, was travelling along Fan Kam Road towards Sheung Shui, while the private car, driven by a 54-year-old man, was travelling in the opposite direction towards Yuen Long, according to police.

The force also said the two vehicles reportedly collided head-on in the vicinity of Wang Toi Shan Chuk Hang Chuen.

According to photos circulating on the internet, the front ends of both vehicles were severely damaged. The taxi’s airbags were deployed, with one seen stained with blood.

The taxi driver and two male passengers were rescued by firefighters after they became trapped inside the vehicle.
