Suspect in Hermes bag robbery sent back to Hong Kong from Thailand
Suspect allegedly stole items worth nearly HK$3 million after rendering staff member unconscious by covering her face with small towel

A man who fled to Thailand after allegedly stealing 14 pre-owned Hermes bags, a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace and two mobile phones worth nearly HK$3 million (US$382,170) in total, has been apprehended and sent back to Hong Kong.
On Wednesday, a man entered a shop at Supreme House on Hart Avenue in Tsim Sha Tsui, rendered a staff member unconscious and tied her up before escaping with the items, police said.
Confirming the Post’s report earlier, police said on Thursday that the suspect, a 30-year-old mainland Chinese man, fled to Thailand at 3.30pm the day before, flying from Hong Kong airport to Bangkok after the robbery.
He was later apprehended by Thai police upon landing and sent back to Hong Kong on Thursday night.
Hong Kong police said the man was then arrested at the city’s airport on a count of robbery, and would be detained overnight for investigation.
Most of the stolen items were recovered, according to the police.
“It was a challenging case, and we were able to identify the identity of the suspect within a short time because of the team work of various departments,” Assistant District Commander (Crime) of Yau Tsim Ching Chi-yan said. “This shows the ‘one force’ spirit.”
