A Hong Kong student has been arrested on suspicion of using a woodworking chisel to attack a teacher who tried to stop him from eating during class.

Police said they received a report at about 9am on Wednesday about a dispute between a Form Three pupil and a male teacher at Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School on Wah King Hill Road in Kwai Chung.

The 58-year-old teacher was reportedly attacked with a woodworking chisel and sustained minor cuts to his forehead and neck. He was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung for treatment and later discharged.

Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the 14-year-old student on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The case is being handled by the Kwai Tsing district investigation team.
