Speedboats went missing from typhoon shelter near Kwai Chung, police say
Hong Kong police are investigating the suspected theft of two speedboats worth HK$800,000 (US$102,660) from a typhoon shelter.
The force received a report shortly after 9am on Friday from a man who alerted them that two speedboats had gone missing from the Rambler Channel Typhoon Shelter near Kwai Chung.
“The two speedboats had both been docked at the shelter earlier. The person who made the report went back to the shelter at about 7am and found the two speedboats missing,” a force spokesman said.
He said police had conducted a search of the area in the morning, but did not make any arrests.
According to the man who made the report, one of the missing speedboats was 32 feet in length, costing HK$600,000. The other one was 23 feet long and worth HK$200,000.
