Two other individuals were also arrested for allegedly helping the suspects.

Police said on Sunday they had received a report on Wednesday last week about a 40-year-old woman collapsing in a flat on Man Wui Street in Jordan.

She was declared dead at Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei on the same day.

Initial investigations suggested that the victim had been unlawfully detained in the flat since late last month.

A source told the Post the woman was taken to the flat from her home in Tuen Mun at the end of last month over an unpaid loan of HK$120,000 (US$15,400).

The insider said the woman’s boyfriend was asked to cover the bill and allowed to stay with her in the flat for two days.
