Elderly Pakistani man found dead near Hong Kong highway after going missing for 6 days
Body found next to lamp post close to a hill along Tuen Mun Road; source says man had dementia, diabetes and heart disease
An elderly Pakistani man who went missing six days ago has been found dead next to Hong Kong’s busy Tuen Mun Road.
A police spokesman said on Sunday a bus passenger filed a report at around 12.10pm after seeing a body near a lamp post close to a hill on a Tsuen Wan-bound section of the highway.
A source said officers found the deceased lying face up. A brown walking stick was also recovered from the scene.
The man, 72, was certified dead at the scene at around 12.50pm.
His head had turned black, with the body bloating and decomposing.
The source said the man was later confirmed to be a Pakistani man who went missing on Monday last week. He had dementia, diabetes and heart disease.
Initial investigations suggested the man could have fallen from the 30-metre (98-foot) hill slope and hit a hard object. No surveillance camera footage was available at the scene.
