5 arrested in Hong Kong after man killed with hammer, body left near busy street

Hong Kong police have arrested five people including a 32-year-old jobless woman and a 40-year-old man over an alleged hammer attack on a man, who was found unconscious on the pavement in Yau Ma Tei and confirmed dead at hospital in the early hours of Sunday.

The force said the woman alerted police at around 6am after she found the victim, who was 33, unconscious on the ground outside a building on Pilkem Street, near Bowring Street, in Jordan.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei, but confirmed dead at 8:24am.

The case was at first treated as manslaughter, but the force reclassified it as suspected murder.

A source confirmed three women and two men had been arrested.

The insider told the Post the deceased was involved in an argument with someone at the location at around 2am on Sunday.

Security footage showed the victim leaving the building with a woman and a man, who later could be seen hitting the victim on the head with what appeared to be a hammer several times.
