A Hong Kong man was injured in an attack at a public housing estate in the New Territories on Wednesday, about half an hour before he was scheduled to attend a court hearing for an assault case.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police were still searching for three assailants who attacked the 39-year-old victim outside Ching Pik House at Tin Ching Estate in Tin Shui Wai at around 8.25am.

The circumstances behind the man’s scheduled court appearance are not currently known.

A source familiar with the case said the man was scheduled to attend a hearing for an assault case at Tuen Mun Court at 9am.

The insider said the man was attacked shortly after leaving his home on the estate.

“The attack, which lasted for about a minute, involved three non-Chinese men who were seen carrying either a knife or an iron bar,” he said.
