The woman, 79, lost consciousness at the scene and was certified dead at Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in Tai Po about an hour later around 2.20pm.

At around 1.15pm, the seven-seater with five family members, aged 18 to 81, on board had been travelling towards Sam Mun Tsai, allegedly in the opposite direction of traffic. The vehicle reportedly collided head-on outside a marine office in Tai Po district with a Tesla travelling towards Ting Kok Road.

The driver, 52, of the seven-seater was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

One of his passengers, his 81-year-old father-in-law, was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin after suffering chest pain and passing out. He later regained consciousness in hospital.
