An alleged dispute between two triad gangs over a woman triggered three car-ramming attacks in northwestern Hong Kong within the space of four hours that left three men in hospital on Wednesday.

In the first case, a white Mercedes-Benz driven by a 19-year-old man was intercepted by three other vehicles at the junction of Hoi Wing Road and Castle Peak Road near Sam Shing railway station in Tuen Mun at around 1.39am, according to a source.

“More than 10 black-clad assailants jumped out from the three vehicles and attacked [the driver of the Mercedes-Benz] with knives,” the insider said. “The victim managed to escape, driving away from the scene.”

He said the three vehicles gave chase and rammed into the Mercedes-Benz.

“After driving for a distance of about 100 metres [328 feet], the victim’s car eventually came to a stop,” the source said.

One of the attackers’ cars was extensively damaged and abandoned. Some of them fled in the two remaining vehicles, while footage posted online showed three suspected assailants fleeing on foot behind them before officers arrived at the scene.

Police found the 19-year-old injured driver unconscious in the Mercedes-Benz and he was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital.
