Truck slams into 2 stationary vehicles on Hong Kong highway, kills man who got out of car to check damage from earlier collision

A male driver of a private car died and a cabby was injured after a truck crashed into their stationary vehicles on a Hong Kong highway on Monday.

The accident happened after the two men pulled over and got out of their vehicles to check the damage after their cars collided.

A police spokesman said a “a private car and a taxi collided and two drivers got out of the vehicles” before the truck ploughed into the accident scene.

“When emergency personnel arrived, the two injured drivers were found on the highway,” he added.

The spokesman said the two men were rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin. The private car driver was pronounced dead at about 11.30am.

The crash happened outside the Pictorial Garden housing estate on the Kowloon-bound lanes of Tate’s Cairn Highway in Sha Tin just after 10.30am.
