Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has appointed Tim Sypko as its new president and managing director following the promotion of his predecessor, Michael Moriarty, to a global executive role.

Sypko, who has served as senior vice-president of operations for the company over the past five years, will take the helm of Hong Kong Disneyland on November 23.
His appointment follows the promotion of Michael Moriarty last week to executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Disney Experiences, after a significant financial turnaround at the attraction that analysts credited to his creative and strategic leadership.

Sypko began his career in 1990 at Walt Disney World in Florida, where he rose through the ranks to helm various operations, including workforce management and guest experience development, and assumed a series of leadership roles.

The company said his steady leadership, operational expertise and overall business acumen had guided the resort through “substantial change and expansion, contributing to record-breaking business results and exceptional guest satisfaction”.

“Tim’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to growth and innovation at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and across Disney Experiences,” said Jill Estorino, president and managing director of Disney Parks International.
