Visitors left disappointed after six-hour cable car disruption at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park
Upper section to the park had to be closed due to signal issues, before eventually reopening at 4.15pm

Hong Kong’s Ocean Park has reopened its upper section after a six-hour closure sparked by the suspension of cable car rides because of signal issues, with some visitors left disappointed that they could not visit the affected areas.
The park said both the cable car and its upper section had reopened at 4.15pm.
It earlier said that it had discovered the signal malfunction during a routine check of its cable cars before the venue opened at 10am on Wednesday, and had decided to suspend certain services to allow for an emergency check to ensure visitors’ safety.
The Summit, or upper park, and the Waterfront section, or lower park, are separated by a hill and connected by the cable car system and an “Ocean Express” train.
“As the Ocean Express is undergoing an annual inspection, we are currently unable to arrange transportation to take visitors to and from the two parks,” Ocean Park said in the morning. “The Summit will therefore be temporarily closed until further notice.”
The park said visitors could still visit facilities in the lower park, which was accessible by public and private transport.
