An airline spokeswoman told the Post on Saturday that flight UO180, originally scheduled to land at Taichung International Airport at around 7.50pm on Friday, returned to Hong Kong later in the night “due to the unfavourable weather condition”. She cited the impact of heavy fog.

The plane landed at Hong Kong International Airport at 8.46pm on Friday and was rescheduled to depart again at noon on Saturday, the spokeswoman added.

“HK Express has notified all affected passengers of the flight schedule changes and is providing them with necessary assistance. The safety of our passengers and crew members is our utmost priority. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate our passengers’ patience and understanding,” the airline said.

No injuries were reported.
