Hong Kong welcomes 461,752 Lunar New Year visitors over 3 days
Number arriving between Tuesday and Thursday represents 7.3 per cent increase over figure for comparable period last year

Hong Kong welcomed 461,752 visitors from mainland China and overseas between Lunar New Year’s Eve on Tuesday and Thursday, a 7.3 per cent increase over the figure for the comparable period last year, with industry representatives noting more overnight tour groups were arriving.
More than 216,000 travellers – 187,138 from the mainland and 28,885 from overseas – arrived on the second day of Lunar New Year, she noted, adding the figure was satisfactory.
According to official data, 461,752 inbound trips by visitors were recorded over the three days from Lunar New Year’s Eve, up from the 430,238 logged during the same period last year.
Among them, 377,293 visitors were from the mainland, up from last year’s 354,864.
“In the past mainland tourists had difficulty booking hotels, but this year as well as last, we’ve seen a rising number of mainland tour groups coming to Hong Kong,” Timothy Chui Ting-pong, executive director of the Hong Kong Tourism Association, told a radio programme.
