A Security Bureau spokesman said on Monday that discussions between the government and Shenzhen involved extending border service hours for New Year’s Eve, including at the Lo Wu and Shenzhen Bay checkpoints.

“Mainland port authorities have submitted the necessary reports to the national port authorities for approval according to procedures,” he said.

“Details will be announced as soon as possible.”

The Transport Department and different operators would make corresponding traffic arrangements for the countdown fireworks, the government said.
