Hong Kong’s humidity reaches lowest level recorded for single day in January
Under the influence of a winter monsoon, the relative humidity plunged to 17 per cent at 4pm on Thursday

The humidity in Hong Kong on Thursday dropped to the lowest level ever recorded for the month of January, the local forecaster said, while warning that Friday would bring a second consecutive day of frost.
Under the influence of a winter monsoon, the relative humidity plunged to 17 per cent at 4pm on Thursday, the lowest on record since the establishment of the automatic weather station at the Observatory’s headquarters in 1984.
The Hong Kong Observatory also issued a frost warning at 4.30pm after cancelling the previous one nearly nine hours earlier. The forecaster’s cold weather and red fire danger alerts remained in force as of late afternoon on Thursday.
The forecaster recorded minimum temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) or even lower in many districts across Hong Kong.
The Observatory noted that residents in districts such as Tai Po and Fanling had captured photos of frost in the early morning on Thursday. A Tai Po resident showed pictures of a private car and some plants covered with frost.
