A cold front is expected to begin affecting Hong Kong on Saturday, bringing intensifying winds and pushing temperatures to about 15 degrees Celsius (59 Fahrenheit) the following day, the weather forecaster has said.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the cold front will move across the coast of Guangdong province from Saturday, accompanied by stronger northerly winds, a few rain patches and a significant drop in temperatures.

“Under the influence of the associated northeast monsoon, the weather will be dry over the coast of Guangdong early next week. It will be cool in the morning and at night, with a relatively large temperature difference between day and night over inland areas,” it said.

The minimum temperature is expected to fall from 21 degrees on Friday to 17 degrees the following day and further to as low as 15 degrees on Sunday, according to the latest nine-day forecast.

The Observatory also said temperatures would be a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories.
