Hong Kong Observatory warns of cold weather on Sunday night and a chillier Monday
Residents urged to put on warm clothes and ensure homes have adequate ventilation during cold spell
The Hong Kong Observatory issued a cold weather warning on Sunday evening, with the forecaster also expecting Monday’s temperatures to be even cooler than originally estimated under the influence of a northeast monsoon.
Minimum temperatures in urban areas would be about 12 degrees Celsius (53.6 Fahrenheit) in the morning, 1 degree lower than a previous forecast, the Observatory said, adding that conditions in the New Territories would be slightly colder.
The Observatory said Monday’s weather would become fine and dry, with a maximum temperature of about 17 degrees, while moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds from the east would gradually strengthen later that day.
Residents were urged to put on warm clothes and ensure their homes had adequate ventilation during the cold spell.
The forecaster also advised the public to avoid prolonged exposure to the cool winds to reduce the risk of suffering from adverse health effects.
