Temperatures in Hong Kong will dip to 12 degrees Celsius on Friday: Observatory
Mercury dip due to approaching winter monsoon, with temperature difference between day and night over inland areas to be ‘rather large’
Temperatures in Hong Kong will dip to as low as 12 degrees Celsius (53.6 Fahrenheit) on Friday as an intense winter monsoon approaches, the city’s forecaster has said.
The Observatory also said on Monday the temperature difference between day and night over inland areas would be “rather large” by then.
“An intense winter monsoon is expected to reach the coast of southern China on Thursday. The weather will be cold in the morning in the latter part of this week and over the weekend,” it said.
“Under the influence of another easterly airstream, temperatures over the coast of Guangdong will rise slightly early to midweek next week.”
According to the latest nine-day forecast, temperatures will range from 15 to 20 degrees between Tuesday and Thursday, before plunging to 12 degrees on Friday and Saturday.
The Observatory also said it would be “very dry” during the day on Saturday and Sunday, as the relative humidity could drop to as low as 35 per cent.
