Blind student excels thanks to teachers’ encouragement

A blind secondary school student who will take the diploma of secondary education exams this year has expressed gratitude to his teachers at elite St Paul’s College for treating him like a normal student and for pointing out his weaknesses such as arrogance. Yeung Chin-hong said they had made him understand he sometimes did not respect other people’s feelings. Yeung, who had his eye balls removed at the age of six because he had eye cancer, has obtained top grades in Chinese language, Chinese history and literature. He also won the first runner-up prize with his teammates in a city-wide secondary school debating contest.
