Hongkongers should brace for cooler weather next week, as a northeast monsoon is expected to push temperatures down to about 16 degrees Celsius (60.8 Fahrenheit), the local forecaster has said.

The Hong Kong Observatory said on Wednesday that the dry northeast monsoon would bring mainly fine weather to the region over the next few days, before temperatures dropped early next week under the influence of an “intense replenishment”.

“The weather will become cool appreciably and windy with one or two light rain patches over the region,” the forecaster said.

According to the latest forecast, temperatures will fall below 20 degrees on Tuesday next week and to about 16 degrees the following day.

Temperatures are then expected to climb back to above 20 degrees later in the week.
