A Samsung tablet computer could be had for HK$1 if you were part of an overnight queue of shoppers waiting for 400 bargain coupons, ahead of a Sham Shui Po computer fair that began yesterday.

The seven-day fair, hosted by the Computer Association, planned to give out a total of 800 coupons of varying values - some that would let consumers buy gadgets for as little as HK$1.

"We are offering more than 1,000 discounted products this year, ranging from 10 per cent to 30 per cent off their original prices," association member Cheung Kwan said.

"People started queuing for the HK$1 coupon at 2pm on Monday in hopes of getting the best bargains, such as HK$1 for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. We gave out 400 coupons today and will give out another 400 on Friday."

Other HK$1 buys include Kingston memory cards, Powerbank portable chargers and USB fans.

Information technology legislator Charles Mok and Jimmy Kwok Chun-wah, chairman of the Sham Shui Po district council, officiated at the fair's opening ceremony.
