Third of Hongkongers not insured: survey
Comprehensive survey finds that three quarters of Hong Kong adults believe they have inadequate financial protection or do not even know if they have sufficient coverage.
A third of Hong Kongers do not have any insurance, and most of them do not plan to buy any in the next year, a university survey has found.
A quarter of the people surveyed accept they have insufficient financial protection for themselves or their family, and half do not even know if they have sufficient coverage.
The Social Sciences Research Centre at the University of Hong Kong conducted a comprehensive survey of Hong Kong people via 3,009 interviews between December last year and August this year.
Centre director Professor John Bacon-Shone said the survey results could be extrapolated to apply to the entire adult population of Hong Kong.
