Children had to walk over a “mountain of waste” to get to their school in northern China on the first day of classes after the summer break, according to a news website.
The refuse blocked a road used by many children to get to the campus in Zhengzhou in Henan province, Eastday.com.

The refuse was mainly construction waste and covered an area 50 metres long and was two metres high, according to the article.
Some parents removed some of the debris to open up a narrow aisle for the children to pass through.

The road was clean before the summer break, an unnamed parent was quoted as saying.
