Huang Xiaoyong, father of Huang Ke who died of muscular dystrophy in 2009, didn’t tell his mother that he had died for fear that she would be too distressed by the news.

But earlier this year, the old woman who is losing her vision and hearing asked to see her grandson after Huang told her that he was recovering and could stand up, according to the report.

To continue the lie, Huang searched for a volunteer to impersonate his son with the help of local media.
