Hong Kong’s famous skyline will soon welcome a striking new addition. Opening later this year, One Causeway Bay is set to transform the harbourfront, bringing a vibrant blend of human-centric workspaces, contemporary retail outlets and sophisticated dining experiences to the area, while preserving the soul of a much-loved neighbourhood.

While the building represents a new chapter for Hong Kong’s waterfront, the development is mindful of the site’s historical significance, which sits on the plot of land that was previously home to the Excelsior Hotel, and aims to preserve its tradition as a place where memories are made.

“Over the years, we have overseen the growth of Causeway Bay, a vibrant 24-hour neighbourhood,” says Max Fleming, director of corporate finance and FP&A at Mandarin Oriental, the property’s developer. “This area has earned a reputation as a hub for business and leisure travellers, especially with the Excelsior Hotel – which was owned and run by the Mandarin Group – at its heart, as well as families and friends going about their daily lives, and increasingly for financial institutions. It is a legacy we will continue to renew.

“We’ve seen strong demand from financial services, insurance firms and multinational conglomerates, reflecting the area’s evolving profile and our continued role as the gateway to the neighbourhood.”

The office spaces at One Causeway Bay are a key part of the vision of Mandarin Oriental. By incorporating innovation and wellness into every detail, they are designed to meet the future of work head-on. Key features include innovations in human-centric architectural design, such as technology support and accessible services that cater to the diverse needs and work styles of the modern office.

Each office floor will boast floor-to-ceiling windows that encourage natural light, while expansive floor plates will allow for flexible office layouts. The building will offer state-of-the-art digital technology and connectivity, with Platinum certification from both WiredScore and SmartScore. Showcasing the developer’s commitment to sustainability, the building will feature energy-efficient aspects such as AI-optimised chillers and a motion detection system for LED lighting. In terms of wellness, office workers will have direct access to the newly expanded harbour promenade, which stretches over 9km and has unrestricted sea views.
