Rio Tinto’s 3.14-ct Argyle Alpha vivid pink diamond dazzles in 2018 Tender
Argyle Alpha is the largest stone in the history of its Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, and one of six ‘Magnificent hero’ offerings
British-Australian mining group Rio Tinto has unveiled the largest Vivid Pink diamond in the history of its Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, launched in 1984.
The 3.14-ct polished emerald cut pink diamond, named Argyle Alpha, is the largest diamond of the 2018 Tender, which has been named “Magnificent Argyle”.
The 63-diamond collection weighs a total of 51.48 carats, including Argyle Alpha and five other “hero” diamonds selected for their beauty. The leading stone of the Tender is a 2.28-ct polished oval diamond in purplish red called Argyle Muse.
The first presentation took place in Sydney earlier this month. The collection will continue to be showcased in Hong Kong and New York, with bids closing on October 10.
The Hong Kong viewing of this precious Tender will be held in mid-September as an invitation-only event, coinciding with the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair.
