Determined to set records comparable to those held by McLaren F1, Richard Mille launched the world’s lightest split-seconds tourbillon chronograph at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).
The RM 50-03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph Ultralight McLaren F1 weighs 38 grams.

Apart from the titanium and TPT Carbon (unique to RM watches) used in the timepiece, the brand worked with the University of Manchester to incorporate graphene – a 2D material that is one atom thick – and TPT Carbon in its new models.
A unique graphene-based composite – known as Graph TPT – was created to lighten the watch’s case.

Brand ambassador Stoffel Vandoorne was on site in Geneva to market the launch alongside Richard Mille, CEO of the eponymous watchmaker.

Limited to 75 pieces, the RM 50-03 is the first dual-brand timepiece by McLaren-Honda and Richard Mille.

Prior to SIHH, Richard Mille released two ladies’ watches – the RM 07-01 and RM 037 – made of NTPT carbon.
The two automatic models are set with diamonds, which was a new combination in RM watches.
