Known as the “enfant terrible” of luxury watchmaking, Roger Dubuis has yet again launched groundbreaking models for the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2017 collection.

Its innovative Excalibur Quatuor launched at SIHH 2013 is now updated with a new material called cobalt chrome. The alloy is applied on the watch’s 48mm-diametre case, bezel, case back and crown. MircoMelt technology is used to produce this alloy.

The super-exclusive technology represents just 0.1 per cent of worldwide metallurgy and is often used in aeronautics and astronomy. The benefits of the alloy are aplenty – it’s 100 per cent biocompatible, extremely corrosion-resistant and outstandingly durable.
The 590-part RD101 Quatuor movement is a revolutionary design. Instead of a traditional tourbillon, the movement features four sprung balances and five differentials to compensate for the rate variations caused by the effects of gravity. Only eight pieces will be available.

The house’s iconic skeleton designs are showcased in the new Excalibur Spider Skeleton Automatic. The watch features an openwork dial which makes its highly skeletonised movement largely visible on the dial. Running inside of the watch is the calibre RD820SQ – the brand’s first automatic skeleton movement released in 2015. The watch is available in a limited series of 88 pieces only.

Following last year’s major expansion in women’s watches, Roger Dubuis is back with a new women’s piece – Excalibur 36. The smaller-sized interpretation of the Excalibur bears the range’s signatures such as the fluted bezel and triple lugs. Running on automatic RD830 calibre – visible from the transparent sapphire crystal case back – the piece boasts a 48-hour power reserve.
