From Rosalía on repeat, and skincare by Dr. Barbara Sturm and CeraVe, to New York hotspots, and chic hotels in Paris and Tennessee
Born in Paris to a Chinese-American mother and a French father, Joseph Altuzarra established his fashion label in 2008, after working for brands like Marc Jacobs and Givenchy. Now based in New York, where his shows are one of the highlights of New York Fashion Week, the designer never fails to deliver collections that cater to confident women who want to look well put together and are not slaves to trends. Here, he shares his favourite finds from his adopted hometown and around the world.

When I discover something I like, I am all in. Right now, it is Rosalía’s new album, Lux, which I have been listening to on a loop at work. The moment I heard the first single, “Berghain”, I was hooked – it felt shocking and totally unexpected, but also incredibly beautiful and emotional. The album as a whole is challenging and undefinable. Not quite pop, not classical music. The music itself is very moving, but I’ve also been incredibly inspired by her process, and how she thinks about creating.
What I’m looking at online

I love finding people who curate interesting images on Instagram: it’s a great tool for research and to get inspired. Jenn Park, who runs the account @sculpting__in__time, is one of my all-time favourites. She has such a distinctive point of view.
My beauty regimen
Joseph Altuzarra swears by the lightweight, oil-free gel-cream moisturiser Tatcha The Water Cream. Photo: Handout
In the morning I wash my face with CeraVe cleanser, which I have been using since college. It’s incredibly gentle, which I like especially during the colder winter months. I moisturise with Tatcha Water Cream – I love how refreshing and light it is. For nighttime, I use the same cleanser, and then Shani Darden Lactic Acid Serum followed by Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum. The final step is Barbara Sturm Face Cream. I love how rich and calming it feels – and I so appreciate that it is unscented. It’s harder to find a great unscented cream than you would think.
