For the first time in six years, Celine Dion returned to the stage and performed a full live show to kick-start her residency at the Plenitude Arena in Paris from September 12 to May 29, 2027.
The 58-year-old was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in late 2022, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms. The diagnosis led the songstress to step away from the limelight; she last performed a live full set in 2020 as part of her Courage tour.

Dion’s comeback was an emotional one, both for her and her fans. Her shows were sold out within hours of the tickets going on sale, with more than 9 million fans trying to get their hands on tickets to see Dion, per The Guardian.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer shed tears on opening night, telling her fans: “I had promised myself not to cry. But I’m so happy to see you all. I missed you. I’m going to sing, like you, without crying.”
Dion is widely recognised as a musical icon, but in her personal life, she is a mother of three and has often said publicly that being a parent is what makes her proudest.

In 2023, a source told People that Dion’s three sons were her “light” as she struggled with her health. Although they have remained relatively under the radar, Dion does occasionally share snippets of her kids on social media. So, what do we know about her three sons, René-Charles, Nelson and Eddy, who were recently spotted in Paris supporting their mother?
Who is the father of Celine Dion’s children?

René-Charles, 25, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 15, were born to the Canadian singer and her late husband René Angélil. According to People magazine, Angélil passed away in 2016 after battling throat cancer.

“I feel extremely fortunate as a mother that – it’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of – I prepared my children for how to live … how to live with him without his presence,” Dion told Ellen DeGeneres in 2016.

Dion’s eldest child, René-Charles Angélil, was born in January 2001 and named after his father. Although he had a low-profile childhood, he has been in the spotlight more recently, after news emerged that he was pursuing a career in music like his mother.
As previously reported, the budding musician, known to his peers as RC and also goes by the name Big Tip, has produced and rapped over remixes of songs by The Weeknd on his SoundCloud, which once shot to No 1 and 2 on the platform’s R&B & Soul New & Hot chart. In 2017, René-Charles also made a cameo in his mother’s live performance of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” in Paris.
Apart from making music, his hobbies reportedly include golf, hockey and poker.
Nelson and Eddy Angélil

Born in October 2010 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Nelson and Eddy Angélil were dubbed a “double blessing” by Dion and her husband.
According to People, Dion went through six rounds of IVF and one miscarriage before announcing the news that she was pregnant with the fraternal twins.
Eddy’s name was inspired by producer Eddy Marnay, who helped with Dion’s first five albums, according to People. Dion’s rep told the publication that “he was like a father to her. Eddy is a major influence in both Celine and René’s lives”.
Nelson was named after the late former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, whom Dion once met on a tour, per the same source.
“Celine and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men,” Dion’s rep told the magazine at the time.
When describing the twins, Dion told Hello! in 2010 that “one is more gutsy than the other”. The singer said Nelson “seems to have a little stronger personality”, adding he was “the tougher of the two”.
Celine Dion is very close to her kids

Dion has always been close with her three sons. They have helped each other get through the grief of losing Angélil. “So I got myself a huge, huge, huge bed and I sleep with my twins. They are comforting me a lot. I need them. I need them close,” Dion told The Sun in 2017. “And when it’s time for them to say they want their room, their room’s ready. But we watch a lot of TV together. I’m discovering Disney,” she added.
In 2020, the “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” superstar shared old photos of the twins on Instagram to mark their birthday. “Nelson and Eddy, you have been bringing so much joy, love and laughter into our lives every single day for the past 10 years,” Dion wrote.
